International Student Animation Film Festival Animafantasia 2021 has an important aim to be among the top student film festivals in the world, maintaining our position as the most important student festival in East Europe and continuing to reach larger audiences every year.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL ANIMAFANTASIA 2021 works around to bring together for Iassy’s audience a panorama of international film which explores the thematic and formal tendencies of the new auteur cinema, enriching the city’s cinematic offer and stimulating the regional production of quality films.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL ANIMAFANTASIA 2021 creates spaces of filmic exchange for our audiences with the new auteurs of world cinema, where they can share and discuss their different views and perspectives, paving the way for understanding among different cultures.
We form film audiences to search for the diversity of international cinema through an inclusive look into local, national and world animation.
Our main purpose is to become a platform for the networking for Iassy, Romanian and International animators and the exhibition of their work. To place the city on the national and International film festival map, positioning the INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL ANIMAFANTASIA as a cultural landmark event.
Student Animated Film is a medium that reflects the values, traditions and characteristics of cultures around the world, promoting understanding, trust and peace among nations. It is fundamental for the advancement of humankind to provide a space for this interaction.
Since its foundation, in 2011, the Animafantasia Festival has sought the promotion of film culture based on three principles:
- that the exposure to animation culture contributes to the awareness of communities and nations of the need to support their own cinematographic expressions, which are cultural and social ambassadors to the rest of the world.
- that a showcase of new world animation is a mirror on to which our local and national filmmaking can measure and compare itself, establishing references of form and content that fosters the reflection and the search for international competitiveness.
- that films made in Iassy, Romania and throughout the world need to be exhibited. A film that is not shown does not exist. Thus it becomes primordial to provide a space for film exhibition.
ANIMAFANTASIA’s values are: enthusiasm for everything is connected to animation, which moves us every day to fulfill our mission; cultural diversity, made tangible through the multiple participating filmic expressions; justice, in our call for entries, selection and awarding of screened films; quality, in everything we do; service to the community and the film industry.
