Between October 13 and 17, 2025, the Romanian Music Festival, 27th edition, will take place in Iași, organized by the Moldova State Philharmonic in Iași, in partnership with the George Enescu National University of Arts and the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania.
Over the past half-century, the Romanian Music Festival has become an emblematic event for the Romanian music world, with each edition having a unique character due to the diversity of genres and styles covered and the integration of new and traditional compositions that have already entered the performers’ repertoire.
This year’s edition offers to the public modern and contemporary creations by young composers and mature musicians, as well as established figures of Romanian musical culture from the 19th and 20th centuries. Encompassing diverse genres, from vocal, instrumental, and choral music to symphonic music, from well-known works in the Romanian music repertoire to avant-garde creations, this year’s edition of the festival is an anniversary edition, as the George Enescu National University of Arts in Iași celebrates 165 years since its founding.
In honor of this event, a multitude of concerts will be dedicated to composers and artists from Iași who have contributed to the success of this institution—George Enescu, Vasile Spătărelu, Achim Stoia, Cristian Misievici, Sabin Păutza, Viorel Munteanu, Leonard Dumitriu, and others.
During the five days of the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to discover the musicians of the new generations (the contemporary music ensembles TimbrIS, Bucharest Percussion Ensemble, Trio Atipic, etc.), to witness the fusion between jazz and academic music (In My Village Symphonic, Pamela. avi) and a series of conferences dedicated to Romanian music: the Romanian Music Colloquium (2nd edition) “Musicians of yesterday and today. Profiles, syntheses”; Music of the 19th-century boyar salons – Restitutio Carol Mikuli. What’s more, there will be a special event – Divina Commedia 2.0, performed by Duo Hesperus, in which the two guitarists will combine the art of sound with a multimedia visual experience. Last but not least, we will be able to listen to numerous recitals, choral, chamber, and symphonic concerts.
This year’s calendar brings together various cultural and artistic events, including musicians, conductors, composers, and musicologists from all over the country, with the aim of enjoying together this representative event for the artistic environment of Iași, in an anniversary edition.
We are looking forward to welcome music lovers to enjoy the events prepared for this edition!
