Taking place in mid-November 2025, the International Student Animation Film Festival ANIMAFANTASIA 2025 had an important goal – to maintain its position as the most important student animation festival in Eastern Europe and one of the most important in the world. Our main goal is to continue to be a networking and media platform for animators from Iași, Romania and internationally, by placing UNAGE on the map of national and international film festivals.
ANIMAFANTASIA FESTIVAL 2025 strives, for the Iași/international audience, to offer a panorama of current film, which explores the thematic and formal trends of the new auteur cinema, enriching the cinematographic offer of the city of Iași and stimulating the production of quality films. ANIMAFANTASIA has grown and become much more than a festival – it is a celebration of cinematographic art for youth, by celebrating filmmakers at different stages of academic education, thus, the festival strives to create a dynamic environment that offers inspiration and valuable networking opportunities.
The city of Iași became for a few days the capital of international student animation, and UNAGE – an important point on the world cinematographic map. According to tradition, also within this edition, top animation industry professionals were invited and organize seminars and lectures, workshops, exhibitions, publish specialized scientific articles – we have branded partners, such as FRAMEBREED STUDIO (Anastasia Bîdiliță), or GAYA STUDIO (Cosmin Panfil).
The screening sessions were held at the Studio Hall of UNAGE. It has become a tradition to collaborate with over 200 art universities around the world, including: Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, Ludwigsburg, Germany; National Film School, Lodz, Poland; ENSAD La Chambre, Belgium; U-TAD Spain, Ecole George Melies, France; DigiPen Institute of Technology, USA; ENSAD Paris; California Institute of Arts, USA; Pole 3D School, Roubaix, France; Taipei National Institute of the Arts, Taiwan; Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina; ESMA, France; Bezalel Acadey of Arts and Design, Israel; Kunstuniversitat, Linz, Austria; Royal College of Art, Great Britain; Budapest Metropolitan University, Hungary, etc.
Through ONLINE VIDEO ON DEMAND platform was provided by OVN Streaming (București) that facilitated access to the festival’s information archive, a sustained international media coverage of the events included in the cultural agenda of the event is sought, contributing decisively to increasing the prestige of UNAGE
