Over time, the university has cultivated excellence in education, research and artistic creation, training entire generations of intellectuals, artists, researchers who have shaped the evolution of society, and tradition, openness to innovation and firm commitment to university values still define us today.

We celebrate together with the entire academic community – professors, researchers and students -, with representatives of local and national authorities, religious denominations, with the rectors of other universities in Iași and the country, but also with representatives of other partner institutions, the legacy and vision of our great predecessors, as well as the founding spirit that continues to inspire us (Rector – prof. univ. dr. Aurelian Bălăiță).

The festive event 165 years of modern university education in Romania will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the Great Hall of the “Vasile Alecsandri” National Theater in Iași.
